The Review Phase
Once your estate plan has been designed and drafted, you will start the Review Phase (not the step you are at? Click Here).
During the Review Phase, we provide you with drafts of your primary estate planning documents as well as a video explaining your drafts to you. You may have a few changes or updates, but at this time we are primarily refining the details, answering your questions, and creating a plan for properly funding your trust.
The puzzle that we have put together has come into focus at this point, and we are just completing the last few pieces…

The Design Phase ends and the Review Phase starts when you receive your draft documents and your Review Video. Your Review Video is a custom video that has been created just for you to explain your draft documents, to point out any special provisions (or any places where you may not have yet made a final decision), and to provide you with an overview. Your Review Video also covers important trust “funding” matters, including which assets should be retitled, how beneficiary designations should be completed or updated, and to generally prepare you for signing your estate planning documents.

At the end of your Design Appointment, we will schedule a Review Appointment. Between your Design Appointment and Review Appointment, you will receive your draft documents and Review Video. We ask that you watch the Review Video and note down any questions or corrections that you may have. During your Review Appointment, we will answer your questions, discuss any changes to your plan and confirm our recommendations for funding of your trust. The Review Video is typically about an hour long, and the subsequent Review Appointment will take 30-60 minutes.
At the end of your Review Appointment, our team will schedule a Signing Appointment for you.

We discuss funding of your trust at many points during the estate planning process. However, at this point, you will have the information you need to know exactly what the plan will be for each asset and how it will align with your estate plan. We may ask that you obtain copies of beneficiary forms, or we will work with your advisor during this Phase to ensure that we have what we need to complete your plan.
