Trust Review Appointment
First, please let us extend our sincere condolences. We know that you are here because you have lost a loved one, friend or other individual who has trusted you with the significant responsibility of acting as their trustee. Whether you have done this before and understand what is required, or if this is all new (and possibly overwhelming) to you, we aim to streamline the process, answer your questions and ensure that you have what you need to confidently perform your role as a trustee.
The first step is to schedule a Trust Review Appointment with us. We have designed this step so that you may pay a one-time flat fee for us to review the applicable trust documents and meet with you to provide you advice about what will be required, and we will discuss any issues that we see and make preliminary recommendations about your options for addressing those issues in a manner that is fair to the beneficiaries - and protects you.
At the conclusion of the Trust Review Appointment, you will have the option of electing to engage our Firm to assist you with the remainder of the trust administration process. If you elect to “go it on your own” or some other route, there will be no obligation to hire us beyond the Trust Review Appointment.
Here is what you need to know and to do to prepare for your Trust Review Appointment:
-
If you have not scheduled your Trust Review Appointment, please refer to the link in your email to book your appointment online, or you may email, text or call our office and one of our friendly team members would be happy to schedule this for you.
Unless we prepared the estate plan, there is a one-time flat fee for the Trust Review Appointment. We respect your time, and ours, and therefore we review documents in advance and provide you with valuable legal advice during this detailed hour-long meeting.
While the Trust Review Appointment will be customized to your needs, the applicable estate plan and your questions, we follow the same general Trust Review Appointment Agenda.
Once scheduled, ensure you have added your Trust Review Appointment to your calendar.
We will be meeting via Zoom unless you have specifically confirmed otherwise. When the time comes for your appointment, follow the link in the calendar event you received by email to join the meeting.
Please write down any questions you have so that we can address them during the meeting.
-
Prior to your your Trust Review Appointment, we require that you complete the sections about you, the decedent, children and other parties, trust review questions and advisors, then upload relevant documents and select the "Submit to Attorney" button to let us know you are finished.
Completing this information does not obligate you to engage us to represent you for the full trust administration unless you decide to do so. Instead, completion of this information allows us to have a more productive hour-long consultation. To create an account, use the following link (if you already have an account, Click Here):
Confidential Trust Administration Questionnaire
The questionnaire is organized into two parts: (1) the first part is to be completed prior to your Trust Review Appointment to facilitate an initial discussion of the trust, the trust administration process and to answer any questions you may have, and (2) the second part of the questionnaire contains more detailed information that you would provide after your Trust Review Appointment if you engage us to represent you in the administration of the trust. We will explain this second portion in more detail during your Trust Review Appointment.
-
While no preparation is required other than completion of the relevant sections of the questionnaire and uploading the relevant documents, we find that it can be helpful to also write down your questions in advance.
